Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bettor Vision?
arrow

Bettor Vision is the only sports betting and fantasy sports account aggregator. We combine all of your sports gaming accounts into one location so you can quickly check the status of all your matchups and bets. Additionally, we can identify which of your sports betting accounts offers the best value on whichever game you’d like to bet on.

Why should I use Bettor Vision?
arrow

Checking all your matchups and bets across multiple apps is annoying! Plus it wastes valuable time. With Bettor Vision, you can quickly get an update on all your sports gaming activity in one location.

Additionally, having multiple sportsbook accounts gives you the ability to price shop sports betting lines. Price shopping is a critical part of reducing the house edge and every serious bettor uses it to get the most for their money. With Bettor Vision, we find the best value for you based on your current sportsbooks for every game. We will also tell you when another operator in your state offers a better line if you do not have an account with that sportsbook. This way you don’t have to check a bunch of sportsbook apps to find the best value. We do it for you.

Can I bet real money on Bettor Vision?
arrow

No, Bettor Vision does not accept or place any bets. Bettor Vision is best used to find the best available value for your bets and track the performance of your bets, daily fantasy contests, and season-long fantasy matchups. In all cases, you still need to place real money wagers on your sportsbook’s mobile app or a retail location. However, we make this as easy as possible by linking directly to your sportsbooks from bet slips that you build on Bettor Vision.

Do you store my login/password information for any of my accounts?
arrow

No, Bettor Vision does not store any login credentials. You’ll need your account username and password to link your sportsbooks and fantasy accounts for the first time. We send those authentication credentials to our partners in a request to retrieve an authentication token then we discard your login data. To reiterate, we do NOT store login credentials. The authentication token that is returned is stored securely in your keychain on your phone, not in our app. Then when we make future requests to pull in your account data, Bettor Vision has your phone send that token with the request to verify your identity.

What is an “Available Sportsbook?”
arrow

An available sportsbook is a sports betting operator that is legally permitted to accept bets in the state that you are currently in or have selected as your location.

Can I see all of my past bets made somewhere?
arrow

Of course. If you click on My Bets, you will be able to see all of your bets made using every sportsbook you have linked to Bettor Vision. You can also filter by open bets, settled bets, bets won, bets lost, and bets made within a custom time period.

What sportsbooks are included on the app?
arrow

We currently have FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, Caesars, PointsBet, WynnBET, Barstool, FOX Bet, and Borgata are all included on our app. And we aren’t done! If you use a sportsbook we don't currently offer, please feel free to contact us at moresports@bettorvision.us to request the addition.

Very soon we will add the ability to sync your ESPN (public leagues), Sleeper, MyFantasyLeague (MFL), RealTime Fantasy Sports (RT Sports), Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC), and National Fantasy Championship (NFC) leagues as well. Why should I have multiple sportsbook accounts?
arrow

Price shopping is a critical part of reducing the house edge and every serious bettor uses it to get the most for their money. At its core, line shopping is just looking for the best deal on the market. Much like when you shop for any real-life products, over time, shopping around for the best deals saves you money.

With Bettor Vision, we find the best value for you based on your current sportsbooks for every game. We will also tell you when another operator in your state offers a better line if you do not have an account with that sportsbook. This way you don’t have to check a bunch of sportsbook apps to find the best value. We do it for you. Here are a few articles that go into more detail about the monetary benefits of price shopping. Long story short - you should price shop all your bets if you aren’t already.

How do I get to “My Account?”
arrow

How can I add additional sportsbooks/fantasy accounts?
arrow

If you go into My Account, which is located in the upper right hand corner of the dashboard, you can then click on “Manage Sportsbook Accounts.” You have the ability to add one of our sportsbook partners on that page. The ability to add additional fantasy accounts will also be located in "My Account" when we add the next 6 fantasy operators in an update soon.

How can I remove a sportsbook/fantasy account?
arrow

Similar to adding a sportsbook, if you go into My Account, which is located in the upper right hand corner of the dashboard, you have the ability to remove sportsbooks and fantasy accounts on the “Manage Sportsbook Accounts” page.

How can I edit my “best available” lines settings?
arrow

The best available odds are currently based on your location (if you have location services enabled). If you disable location services, then you’ll see the “consensus odds.” If you’d like to see the best available odds in states you’re not currently located in, then you can go to “My Account” (located at the top right of the Dashboard tab), click on “Manage Location,” and turn off “Enable location services.” This will take you to Bettor Vision within your phone’s settings App. There, click on “Location” and change to “Ask Next Time Or When I Share” (recommended) or “Never.” Then, go back to your Bettor Vision app and click on the “Primary Betting Location” to choose the state where you’d like to see the best available odds for in the “Betting” tab.

I’m traveling to another state and want to place a bet there. How do I research the best available odds in states other than where I am located?
arrow

The best available odds are currently based on your location (if you have location services enabled). If you’d like to see the best available odds in states you’re not currently located in, then you can go to “My Account” (located at the top right of the Dashboard tab), click on “Manage Location,” and turn off “Enable location services.” This will take you to Bettor Vision within your phone’s settings App. There, click on “Location” and change to “Ask Next Time Or When I Share” (recommended) or “Never.” Then, go back to your Bettor Vision app and click on the “Primary Betting Location” to choose the state where you’d like to see the best available lines/odds for in the “Betting” tab.

What does the gold background with “better odds available” mean?
arrow

This means that there is a sportsbook available in your selected state that is currently offering better odds than your linked sportsbooks. However, you can’t access those odds because you either don’t have an account at that sportsbook or haven’t linked that sportsbook with Bettor Vision. So, in this situation, you are not getting the best possible value on your bet.

How do you determine what the best odds are?
arrow

We define the best odds as the sportsbook that offers the best point spread for the team you want to bet on. For example, if you want to bet on a team that is favored to win, we prioritize operators that offer the bet at -2.5 compared to -3. If all operators have the same point spread, the best value is the bet that gives you the highest payout. For example, if one operator has their payout at +120 and another has theirs at +110, we prioritize the operator that offers the payout at +120.

Do you have player props, teasers, and parlays available?
arrow

At this time we do not offer betting data around player props, teasers, or parlays. We love that stuff as much as you do and hope to bring it onto the platform soon. However, if you place a player prop bet, parlay, or teaser on one of your linked sportsbook accounts, you will be able to track those bets on your dashboard.

Why can’t I see all the bets available from my sportsbooks (promotional, alternate odds, futures, etc.)?
arrow

We plan to show all sports betting lines, including promotional, alternate odds, prop bets, etc. but do not offer that information right now. We’ll get there soon though!

Why are some boxes highlighted green in the “All Sportsbook Odds” section?
arrow

When you expand the view to see “All Sportsbook Odds,” you can see all the odds available for that event organized by sportsbook. If the odds under a sportsbook are highlighted green, then those represent the best odds available for that bet. If multiple sportsbooks have the same odds for the bet and they are the best odds available, then the odds box would be highlighted in green under each of the sportsbooks (multiple sportsbooks can have the best odds available for a bet – essentially they are tied for having the best odds).

What does the little “+number” in the lower corner of the odds box in the “Your Best Odds” section mean?
arrow

This means that there are more of your sportsbook accounts that offer the best value than we are able to show in the bet box. If you click on the “+number,” you’ll be able to see which specific sportsbooks offer the best value displayed in the bet box.

What happens if I click “Place Bet” in my bet slip?
arrow

If you click on “Place Bet,” you will be taken to the app of whichever sportsbook account that you choose to actually place the bet. Bettor Vision does not accept bets of any kind on our app.

Once I’ve placed bets, where can I track them?
arrow

You can track all of your daily bets in the dashboard. We’ll tell you your win-loss record on the day, let you know what bets are still open, and give you the expected value of your remaining bets. You can also check your bet history in the My Bets section of the app.

How can I manually enter a bet that I made with my friends or at a sportsbook you don’t have on your app yet?
arrow

You can manually enter bets made with friends or at a sportsbook we don’t have yet on Bettor Vision under the “My Bets'' tab. Once there, click on the Blue circle with the “+” inside to start a custom bet. You can enter bets in one of 2 ways: through building a bet slip by selecting a bet from a select event (to reduce the information you have to enter) or by clicking the “Add Custom Bet” button at the top of the screen.

If you select an event/bet combination to build a bet slip, then you will be able to enter the wager/to win amounts and change the spread/total/odds as necessary to reflect the bet you got. There is also a comment section so you can enter where you placed the bet, if you’d like, or any other pertinent info you’d like to track/remember. You can also build parlays in this format.

If you click the “Add Custom Bet” button, then you will be asked to enter the title (could be “Arm Wrestling contest with Geoff” or that “Lamar Jackson will throw/run for at least 5 touchdowns against the Browns”--the options are limitless), the event date, and any comments. There is also a toggle at the bottom to track if the bet is still open or if you won, lost, or pushed/canceled the bet. Custom bets can be edited in “My Bets”with the “Edit Bet ” link in the bottom right of the bet card, if needed.

How do you calculate my placed/Live bets’ win probability?
arrow

We use the current odds available to calculate the implied probability of that bet winning. Implied probability is the conversion of betting odds into a percentage taking into account the bookmaker’s margin to express the expected probability of the outcome occurring. This could be a pre-event line move due to player news (like the 2020 Saints-Broncos odds changing when the Broncos entire QB room got COVID) or an in-game line change due to the current score, time remaining, and other circumstances (possession, player injuries/news, momentum, etc.).

Using the 2020 Saints-Broncos example, early in the week, the Saints were 6.5 point favorites (implying about a 72.4% chance they should win the game) and -260 moneyline favorites (72.2% win probability). Then, it was reported that Denver Broncos backup quarterback Jeff Driskel tested positive for COVID-19, none of the other quarterbacks had been wearing masks around him, and so all QBs were deemed ineligible to play in the game. Denver ended up using practice squad WR Kendall Hilton (who had played QB at Wake Forest) as their starting QB, but since the starting QB plays such a major role on sports books’ game calculations, the line jumped to Saints -14.5 (implying a 94.9% chance of winning) and the moneyline jumped to -2000 (95.2% chance the Saints would win).

Using an in-game example, say you bet on the week 1 matchup between the Cleveland Browns at the Carolina Panthers. Maybe you’re a Baker fan or you just believe in the revenge game storyline so you took the Panthers to win on the moneyline for -105 pregame (implying a 51.2% win probability). Let’s say at halftime Baker has played well–supported by a big first half by Christian McCaffrey–while Jacoby Brissett has played well for the Browns but hasn’t been able to help them find the end zone resulting in a 14-6 Panthers lead with the Browns set to receive the second half kick-off. Let’s assume the live odds have the spread now at Panthers -8 (79.1% chance of winning) and the Panthers live moneyline odds are -350 (77.8% probability to win).

The calculations are most straightforward on moneyline bets, get a little more complex for spreads and totals, and much more complex for player props. If live/current odds are being offered for your bet, we’ll calculate the bet’s winning probability using the expertise of the bookmakers and historical data.

What does the blue circle with a “+” in it do in the lower right corner of the screen in the “My Bets” section?
arrow

This is the button to enter custom bets. You can manually enter bets made with friends or at a sportsbook we don’t have yet on Bettor Vision under the “My Bets” tab. Click on the Blue circle with the “+” inside to start a custom bet. What is Bettor Vision's community?
arrow

Let's be honest - sports betting is way more fun when you connect with others. With Bettor Vision's community, you can poll your friends about which bets you should make or what players you should start in your fantasy lineup this week. You can also follow others who are great at betting on specific teams if you'd like some extra confidence about placing a wager. And, of course, this gives you the ability to take victory laps after big Ws and commiserate with others on loss or, even worse, bad beats.

When will the community feature be available?
arrow

Very soon! We are putting on the finishing touches and it should be ready in a few weeks.

What is "expected value?"
arrow

Expected value is a way to show the current value of all your bets based on the score, time remaining, and perceived ability of the team you bet on compared to their opponent. The way expected value is calculated is the sum of all possible values multiplied by the probability of each of those values/outcomes occurring. Since most sports bets are binary outcomes, the expected value formula is = (implied bet winning probability % *profit if bet won) - (implied bet losing probability %*amount bet).

For example, if pregame you placed a $100 moneyline bet on the week 1 matchup of the Detroit Lions versus the Philadelphia Eagles of Lions +160 – Dan Campbell in Hard Knocks is SO GOOD, RIGHT?!? – then pregame, you’d have an implied win probability of 38.5%, profit of $160 if bet won, implied losing probability of 61.5% and bet amount of $100 resulting in an expected value of $0.10. At half-time, let’s assume the Lions are up 14-10 and the live moneyline is now Lions -210 (67.7% win probability). Now your expected value is $76.02 (0.677*160)-(0.323*100).

What is the “Completed Win/Loss Today?”
arrow

Completed Win/Loss Today summarizes the final outcomes of all bets that have already ended today. No chance for a last-second Hail Marys, backdoor cover, or a bad beat at the buzzer. These are in the books.

What does it mean that I’m down/up X% today?
arrow

This is another way to show how you are doing on the day. It is based on the amount of money you bet compared to your winnings off these bets.

For example, if you bet $100 and you are up $25 on the day, that’s a cool 25% profit right there! On the flip side, if you are down $25, you are down 25%. Which stinks.

How do you determine if my fantasy contests are “Winning,” “Losing,” or a “Toss Up?”
arrow

We make this determination based on the current projected final score of your matchup. If the projected final score shows that you have at least a 70% chance of winning, the matchup is put into the ‘Winning’ bucket. If the projected final score shows that you have anything less than a 30% chance of winning, the matchup is put into the ‘Losing’ bucket. And every matchup where projections give you between a 30% and 70% chance of winning are put into the ‘Toss Up’ bucket.
